June 2007 - Dog Days of Summer

WOW! My first summer and it gets hot!! I have to run across the parking lot of daddy's apartment to get to the grass to go potty. Mommy thinks it is funny because it is the only time that I run these days! I am growing fast.. mommy and daddy are always telling me what a big boy I am getting to be. I weigh almost 30 lbs now (3 more and I out weigh Kenzie!!) and am starting to look like a bulldog.. or that is what mommy says (not sure what it means, but that is what I hear her tell daddy! Sometimes they joke because my head grows fast at times and it looks big compared to the rest of my body! Mom says I get that from daddy - must be true because when we go visit friends at the pub they tease daddy that his melon is big! It's ok.. we are both tough and can handle it.


So other than growing a lot and fast! The summer is going really well. I am working on being a good dog and going potty outside all the time.. but have had a few minor setbacks (ok a lot) but I am working at it everyday. I am sleeping through the night (on the bed of course!) I won that battle for now. I also get to play everyday.


I love going to the park on my walks because I can go down the slide! I love to do this and go all by myself and run back up to go again and again. Mom and dad think this is so cool - they uploaded the video to YOUTUBE - so maybe I will be famous one day.


I tend to play rough these days because my teeth hurt me so much - so if I bite hard it isn't on purpose.. they just hurt alot! I have lost a lot of teeth and are getting more and more big dog teeth. I have a toy that I like to chew on to make them feel better and will chew on it for hours at a time.


Otherwise June has been a bit slower for us than May was. Mommy is very glad! We spend time on the weekends just hanging out at home and relaxing. I started to sleep under my mommy's bed. Mommy and Kenzie think it is funny because they can hear me snoring under there when they are trying to fall asleep. I snore a lot! Mommy says that daddy and I have snoring competions almost every night we are together. Sometimes it is hard for her to sleep. When I stay at daddy's house I have gotten into the habit of barking because daddy tries to be a tough guy and not let me sleep with him.. Ha! I win! I bark and bark until he lets me up - can't keep the neighbors up in the apartment!

I had a good trip to Grandpa Budwei's house in Volcano. It is like heaven up there and I got to play with Ruegar and Pocket. They are rotweilers, one is grandpa Budwei's and the other one is Tommy's (that is Tyler's cousin!) They kept me so busy... we ran around all the property (1o acres) and I got really really dirty! I even got to dig a hole for the first time! OH.. I almost forgot I went swimming (ok kinda - I am not that good at swimming!) my butt sinks and I have to work really hard to stay afloat!

This week mommy is out of town with Kenzie and Tyler in San Deigo so I am hanging out with daddy... we have had a boys weekend.. I have gone to Roger's house twice and had a great time.. Ken has come over and BBQ'd and watched Nascar with daddy and I.. OH and the big deal of the week... I fell down the stairs backwards! YIKES that was so scary! I already didn't like going down the stairs... this made it worse.. I seem to be ok (or that is what daddy says!)

Mommy comes home on Saturday night and I can not wait! I miss her and Mackie and Tyler so much... Mommy said she will upload the pictures from Budwei's house when she comes home (they are still on the camera)

May 2007 Puppy Summary

Busy Time
Summer had not really started yet for us in May; but we have been very very busy! Mom thought it would be best if we just gave a summary of May and June and then got back on track for July (hopefully we won't be so busy!)
HMMMMMMMMM. I have been growing a lot since the last time we have talked! I am becoming a very big boy! Mom is proud of me as I have learned a couple tricks (ok - just 1 trick but also I am minding better) and mom is thrilled about that!!! I have learned how to shake hands for a biscuit and I also know how to sit on command. I am also learning how to lay down for one - I am stubborn so it is taking me a bit longer to learn.
Mommy and Daddy went to the motocross race (Hangtown) it was the last time they would see Ricky Carmichael so I got to stay with grandma and papa Schuster. I had a great time! I played with Cirrus and Sadie.. I came home really tired. Then the next weekend they went camping at the lake and I got to stay with Grandma and Papa again since no puppies could go camping. I was sad to see my family go away; but I got to play with Cirrus and Sadie all weekend! It was great fun. I didn't even notice they were gone!
I had a hard time sleeping at night in my kennel alone; so I would cry to get up on the bed.. I won a lot of the time! Since a barking puppy in daddy's apartment isn't too nice! (I am one SMART guy huh!) Mommy became stubborn and I had to bark more and more... most of the time I won.. but she was really tough to break sometimes.

Busy Puppy but a Playful One!

It's been a really long time since I have had a chance to tell mommy to update this (we are sorry!). We have been so busy with puppyhood that we forgot to stop playing long enought to update. Let me try to rack my puppy brain and remember what has happened over the last 3 weeks.
THE PUPPY DOCTOR - VISIT 1 MAY 1, 2007
This visit was a special. Mommy and daddy were concerned about my feet and wanted the vet to take a look at me because they were concerned about how I drag my feet when we go for walks and it causes them to bleed. Not a comortable thing; but I like walks so I don't complain. The doggy doctor knew right away what she thought it was and wanted to watch me walk outside. So we went for a short walk on the strip mall. I had to pee pee so I did it right out front of a shop's door (WHOOPS!) When we went back into the doctor's office I got lots of x-rays. The doctor felt that I have hemi-vertibrae. Here is the technical version of what it means: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Congenital_vertebral_anomaly.
My version is that my back is messed up! My doctor says that the vertibrae are all smooshed up together instead of having spacing between them. I really like her though.. she knows it too - cuz I show her my rocket. She thinks I am funny like that and teases me. All the girls at the doctor say I have such a personality - Mr Personality that's me! Oh and I wieghed 19 lbs this trip.
Ok.. mommy says it is time to go get ready for hangtown motocross racing - YAHOO!!! I will help her add more later.

Big Boy (in many ways)

My doggie doctor appointment went well. I now weight 17.9 lbs.! Got my last Parvo shot; need to go back in 2 weeks for a rabies shot. I am a big boy already at 3 1/2 months! I also found out that I have testosterone - you can only imagine what that means...mommy doesn't think it is funny - but daddy sure does.

Curiosity Killed the Cat (not the Dog - thankfully!)

Another busy week, but one filled with lots of puppy curiosities! Mommy didn't get a lot of time to help me get the update out (We are sorry! See I really am!)

After mommy's birthday we had a few quiet days at home with not much excitement... until I got under foot at daddy's house and caused a minor accident! Daddy thought he was going to step on me so he tried to miss me and fell back into the dishwasher. There was a LOUD BOOM (as daddy hit the counter and dishwasher with all his weight) and a small cute puppy (that is me!) ran to save his life! I haven't been so scared ever; everything ended up ok until the next morning when mommy tried to open the dishwasher and the whole thing came out! OOPS! Puppy Power!

Car Rides and Camping!

Our camping trip finally arrived - mommy and daddy were very excited to go and so was I. I got to meet lots of new humans and a few doggy friends too. Before I left I got to have a nice sleepover with Kenzie though - I was gonna miss her a bunch. Here is us getting up in the morning before the big trip. I am not as big of a grump as Kenzie or mommy in the morning.. maybe I am a morning dog? We got on the road around before noon for our camping trip. I did really well in the truck. I slept the whole way to Stoneyford (almost 3 hours!). Once we got to the campsite I got to do a little exploring. I got a nice new collar (my first one) for this trip and this black long thing that mommy and daddy try to pull me around on; which I don't like so I don't go. I just sit there while they yank on the thing. I think I heard them say I am stubborn. I don't think so; I just have my own way of doing things! All of our friends started rolling in later and I got lots of attention. I also met Zowie - check her out with my updated pictures.. She is quite the cutie - I tried to share her bed and she wasn't too happy with me.. hmm guess sleeping together on the first day is out of the picture for her. I will have to try again the next trip.

I also learned about cold weather. It rained a lot and I liked to drink the rain drops from the easyup. That was yummy. I played in the bushes and ate lots of twigs and sticks. Which made for a pooped puppy. I had a great time and the car rides were lots of fun.

Friday the 13th

This was a great day! I got to sleep in the people bed - since it was mommy's birthday!
I enjoyed that. Unfortunately, the day wasn't too eventful for me. I spend most of the day in my kennel because daddy took mommy shopping. I did get to go with them later in the night! Jac and daddy came and got me so I could go meet Leon and Fritz. I got to play with them at their house for awhile. I learned what it meant to NOT be the leader. Leon taught me some stuff! We had a great time and I was super tired when I got home and slept through the night.

It's Been a Few Days

The Doggy Doctor
Sorry I haven't been able to post any updates in the last couple days. We have been very busy since I went to the doggy doctor. The visit went well. I got weighed and got a shot. I now weigh 13.5 lbs. That is 2 lbs more than my first visit a week ago. I am getting so big so fast. We also found out that most likely I have an allergy to grass. Can you believe that? A puppy allergic to grass! I got a very bad rash on my tummy. Big red bumps. When I came to daddy's house the bumps would get better and almost go away. Then when we go back to mommy's house I get to go outside and play in the grass and the bumps are back! So the doggy doctor said that is more than likely an allergy to grass and that I can have benedryl but only a 1/2 of one.
Thursday
Thursday I got to stay home with Papa David, Tyler and Kenzie while mommy and daddy went to work. I had a great day! We played outside a whole bunch. I like to chew on pant legs; but get in trouble for it... When Papa David took the kids to the park I had to go in my kennel; Kenzie gets very upset when I go in there. She almost cries as much as me, but thankfully we both get over it quickly. After work mommy got home and we all got to go outside together to color our Easter eggs. Daddy went to hang out with his friends at SOL. I like to roll around in the grass and chase the soccer ball. Tyler got to go home with Papa David and Grandma Corky so I got to play with Kenzie and mommy. Kenzie likes to give me lots of hugs until I start to get too excited and nip too hard. Then we have to say good night. We both get to sleep in mommy's room. Me in my kennel and Kenzie with mommy.
Friday
Friday I stayed home with mommy for a while; but I wasn't a very good puppy so mommy couldn't focus really well. So she took me to daddy's house for daddy to watch me. I like hanging out with daddy. We play fetch. Later on Friday I got to go out for my first time to SOL - the local pup. Daddy wanted to show me off to his friends.. Oh and he says I am a 'bitch magnet' so we tried it out. It works... I had lots of pretty girls hugging and kissing on me. Luckily, mommy knows that daddy isn't going anywhere. I almost forgot that I also got a bath today. Mommy said I was stinky and needed a bath so I was clean and smelled good for my outing!
A Very Lazy Day
Today was a very lazy day. I have been sleeping well in my kennel at night and only getting up 1 or 2x a night. Today I got the treat of taking a nap with mommy in the big tall bed. It was so cozy and comfy. Daddy came in to nap too; but he couldn’t sleep because I was snoring too loud. Mommy is used to snoring so it doesn’t bother her (daddy snores too!)
Also, I am getting better about being able to go potty outside when I have to go. I haven’t had too many accidents lately. Sometimes I forget like when I am playing a lot and then I can’t make it outside. Whoops! Tomorrow is Easter; I get to see Tyler and Kenzie again! Wahoo! Apparently, a bunny hides the eggs that were colored and we get to find them. That should be fun. Daddy is coming over too; after the F1 Race to cook ham for everyone. I can’t have any people food; but I smell daddy’s cooking all the time and it makes me hungry I wish I could eat it! Well I am pretty doggone tired so I am going to lay down next to mommy on the futon

Daddy's Day

Today I got to stay home with daddy! He is working from home to spend time with me and take me to the doggy doctor. Before mommy went to work I was a good boy and my new personality was not showing. Mommy thinks that daddy must have the special touch because when he yells HEY! I look at him and stop what I am doing... I don't do that for mommy. She doesn't have the 'boom' in her voice like daddy - course he is much much bigger than me - have you seen how big his feet are? Kinda scary for a little guy like me!
Daddy has started calling me chubsy wubsy.. i think he thinks I am a little porker.. but I don't mind. I feel much better this morning; I need to remember plants are not my friend.
Well naptime for me.

My First Tummy Ache

Apparently chewing on anything and everything I can get my paws and teeth on isn't good for me. I have a bit of a tummy ache. Mommy and Daddy are noticing that I am not myself. I am feeling kinda lethargic and not so good. I have an appointment at the doggy doctor tomorrow (lucky for me) maybe the doctor can tell my why I feel so icky... it can't be the plant I was chewing on? or can it?
Well although I have been sleeping a lot this evening I am pretty tired so mommy and daddy are going to bed too.

The New Drake

Today is day two showning my new personality. I wasn't very nice to my new mommy last night. We had to go out 5 times total after we went to bed at 10:30 pm. Oh and we got up at 6:30 am today. For those of you that don't know yesterday and today I have become a bit of a brat. My mommy thinks it is because I was kenneled for a few hours yesterday; so I was getting back at her.
I like to chew on EVERYTHING - from Kenzie's pink bear (she doesn't share that well!), Tyler's pant legs and anyone's fingers! I have very sharp baby teeth! So watchout - don't say you were not warned! I also like to go outside and lay in the grass.. but mommy and daddy say it might be bad for me.. cuz I am allergic. I get hives on my tummy from it. Doesn't seem to bother me though! I like to roll in it and chew the rose bushes out side - I've been told there are thorns but I haven't run across any yet.
UhOH - I gotta go for now.. mommy is gonna put me in the kennel cuz I am biting her foot and she has a meeting to attend and has to pay attention in the meeting. She told me tonight I get to be a pest to daddy - she is off duty for a night. (That is what she thinks huh!)
